The definition of a myocardial infarction or heart attack is made using a high troponin level and at least one of several symptoms. Click here to see the definition of a myocardial infarction.
In our lab, the normal range is 0.00-0.034.
Any troponin level greater than 0.034 will be marked as high and in a red color.
Some people have slightly elevated troponins at baseline. So when you see a rise in serial troponins, it’s particularly important. A decrease in serial troponins is also important.
