The 11 Criteria for diagnosing SLE from the ACR.
Note
- The ACR criteria are designed to identify patients with SLE have 85% sensitivity and 95% specificity for SLE.
- You need any 4 or more of the 11 criteria (serially or simultaneously) during any interval observation.
- A rheumatologist could still diagnose a patient with SLE who has < 4 criteria. Such a diagnosis would depend on clinical judgment.
- Suspect SLE if the patient has clinical features affecting ≥ 2 organ systems noted in the 11 classification criteria for SLE from the ACR.
- Patient unlikely to have SLE if she has a positive ANA without any organ system involvement or the typical SLE laboratory findings.
