#Recurrent UTIs in a pediatric patient.

The following is how a pediatrician treated an 8 year old with recurrent UTIs.

8 yo old who has had about 2 UTIs per year since preschool, mum remembers. Culture always shows E. coli and sometimes with Proteus.
This patient actually presented with fever without a source and UA and urine culture was done with diagnosed the UTI. In the meantime, the pediatrician gave her two shots of Ceftriaxone on two consecutive days. Prior to that the NP had treated the patient with Azithromycin and Tamiflu.
Tx: Cefdinir for 5 days after the two days of IM rocephin.
-Trained patient to wipe properly from front to back.
-Drink lots of water.
