Long-term PPI use increases the risk of:
- Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.
- Other enteric infections
- Osteoporosis and Osteoporosis fractures.
- Fractures (of the Hip, wrist, and spine)
- Community-acquired pneumonia
- Hypomagnesemia
- Cardiac events when coadministered with clopidogrel.
- Vitamin B12 Deficiency.
- Affect absorption of other vitamins and minerals including iron and folate.
