Palliative chemotherapy provides no survival benefit. However, patients who receive palliative chemotherapy for end-stage cancers are:
- less likely to die at home (where many would like to die),
- more likely to undergo CPR, and more likely to undergo mechanical ventilation.
- are referred to hospice later.
