Reason For Exam: Gastroparesis

EXAM: NM Gastric Emptying Study
CLINICAL INDICATIONS: Gastroparesis
TECHNIQUE: Following the ingestion of half of an egg sandwich radiolabeled with 1.05 mCi of technetium-99m sulfur colloid, static scintigraphic images of the abdomen were obtained at different time intervals for up to 4.5 hours.
COMPARISON: None.
FINDINGS: There is 19% of the ingested tracer activity remaining in the stomach at 4.5 hours. (Normal is less than 10% retained activity at 4 hours.)
IMPRESSION: Moderately delayed gastric emptying. Findings suggestive of gastroparesis.
