#Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA)
-Most common childhood arthritis.
-Onset must be less than 16 years of age.
-Sx must last > 6 weeks.
-Three subtypes: Systemic JIA (aka Still’s disease), Pauciarticular JIA, and Polyarticular JIA.
-Polyarticular JIA is the most common subtype and accounts for 90-95% of all JIA.
-Refer to rheumatology. Consider ophthalmology referral if eye symptoms develop.
-Tx: NSAIDs, salicylates, methotrexate, sulfasalazine, etanercept, adalimumab, infliximab, intraarticular steroids as needed.
