- Intensive glycemic control in DM2 reduces the rate of progression of macroalbuminuria, an indicator of diabetic nephropathy. It doesn’t reduce the likelihood of needing dialysis. It also doesn’t improve BP. It, however, increases hypoglycemic episodes.
