Procedures I saw at the pain management clinic. ESI=Epidural Steroid Injection

  • Cervical ESI
  • Lumbar ESI
  • L3-L4 Transforaminal ESI
  • Removal of spinal stimulator probes/electrodes
  • Medial nerve block (medial nerve branch block)
  • Caudal injection – when the patient has back surgery the epidural space is compromised and so they do a caudal approach.
  • Facet joint injection
  • Medial nerve branch Oblation  (with Dr. Lee & Toby)
  • Radio Frequency Oblation?
  • Left Trochanteric bursa injection (I did this under fluoroscopic guidance)
  • Trigger Point Injections (I did this)
  • Genicular nerve block
  • SI Joint injection.
  • Botox injections for chronic migraines.

Landmarks

-The Iliac crest is L4. To do an epidural/spinal tap, from the back, place your hands on the iliac crest (highest point of hip) and position your thumbs horizontally on the mind line over the spinous process. Then pick a spot 1 to 2 cm below it to place your needle.

-ASIS is a little lower, L5
