The circumcision tray should have most of what is needed. Ensure supplies are available in the procedure room:
- Sucrose (Sweet ease) and pacifier. Sucrose to be given immediately upon entering room and PRN.
- Infant padding, blankets, and towels
- Alcohol Wipes ( x 4)
- Lidocaine 1% (WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE). Will need 1ml
- Syringe: 1 ml sterile syringe (like a Tuberculin syringe)
- One 27 gauge or similar sub-Q needle
- A larger bore needle for drawing lidocaine.
- Povidone iodine swab sticks or Betadine or other skin-sterilizing preparation
- Fenestrated drape – Sterile drape with small opening in the center (fenestrated)
- Sterile gloves – Size 7 (for me)
- Two curved hemostats
- One straight hemostat
- One scissors (with a dull tip)
- Sterile 2 x 2 or 4 x 4 gauze pads
- A probe
- Gomco (all sizes 1.1, 1.3 & 1.45)
- One small safety pin.
- Scalpel – no. 10 blade or similar
- Surgicel
- Normal saline (for cleaning scrotum and surrounding area after the circumcision).
- A&D ointment or White petrolatum (Vaseline) or white petrolatum gauze
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol) order (10 mg/kg Q 6 hours X 24 hours)
- Clean nappies/diapers and wipes
