Why Vancomycin for Meningitis?
“With the worldwide increase in the prevalence of penicillin-resistant pneumococci (.i.e. penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae), vancomycin should be added to cefotaxime or ceftriaxone as empiric treatment until culture and susceptibility results are available.”
